District attorney to investigate fair board allegations

The Orange County District Attorney’s office will look into allegations that the county’s fair board broke open meeting and conflict of interest laws, a spokeswoman said today.
The status of the complaint has been unclear since the state Attorney General’s office rejected it earlier this month citing a conflict of interest. (The AG represents the fair board, so can’t investigate them too.)
Orange County’s head lawyer Nicholas Chrisos filed the complaint, alleging the fair board illegally used public money to pay for lobbyists charged with influencing the state’s sale of the fair grounds.
The AG’s office suggested that the county file a complaint with the county district attorney. But last week, when asked if the county planned to file the complaint locally, a county spokeswoman would only say that they were still weighing their options.
Either way, the DA plans to look into the allegations, spokeswoman Susan Schroeder said today.
“We’re aware there’s an allegation that a crime has occurred,” Schroeder said. “Since we have been made aware of that fact, both by the media and the Attorney General, I think we have an obligation to look into it. Obviously we’d like to start with the county counsel, but if they don’t refer the matter to us, that does not foreclose the matter.”
The DA’s office also sent a letter to Chrisos Friday inviting the county to participate.

We’re supposed to believe that Susan Schroeder is going to investigate her husband (Mike Schroeder’s) BUDDIES, Dickey Ackerman and Dave Ellis?
This will be buried as deep as Jimmy Hoffa!
Wasn’t Mrs. Haidle, Dave Ellis’ guest for FREE concert Tickets? of course with the retired City Manager of Newport Beach…all of this can be found on line…strange bed fellows huh?
Oh come on Lori. Do you really think that Susan Schroeder’s (a mid level employee) relationship with those involved is going to alter an investigation into this matter.
Do you really believe that Mr. Rackauckas is going to jeopardize his reputation and all that he as worked hard to accomplish just to protect one lousy county employees husband?
I personaly think not.

Seriously, seriously?, you think Rackauckas has a good reputation?
Nobody in the know respects the guy. He is Carona without the charm or sex appeal.
If you think he would really go after people who are his political buddies than why did the US Attorney have to prosecute Carona? Because the DA ignored the mountain of evidence that he was a crook.
Also, Susan Schroeder may have the intelligence and skill of a low-level employee but she is Rackauckas’s #1 political advisor in the office.
Understandable that the AG represents the Fair Board therefore it can not investigate the Fair Board. (Conflict of interest)
What I do not understand is….
The Fair Board members are appointed trustees of our public Fairgrounds, therefore they should not be using our Fairgrounds revenues to hire X-senator/Laywer Dick Ackerman to go lobby for the State to Sell our Fairgrounds. And at the Same time the Fair Board creates a SECRET, non profit, to purchase and operate said Fairgrounds.
When we asked the Fair Board to produce the PUBLIC records of how they spent our taxpayers money in paying for Dick Ackerman’s services, we got a nice letter from SAID Attorney Generals office…

Tony D. would never go after is “boys”.
Just look at how he swept the molestation allegations at St. Joseph under the rug when Bill Campbell and company got a hold of him.
This guy is a tool.
And yes, he cleans up Mikes mess for Susan.
Thank You ALL for stating the obvious…it seems there are still people out there unaware of the political corruption that IS the Orange County D.A.’s office. Well, that and the political shinanigans that Dave Ellis…Scott Baugh and Dickey Ackerman are up to…When will the public tire of these TROLLS?
