Questionable cartoons pulled from OCSD website

It started out humorous but became less funny with each click of the mouse as The Watchdog looked through the Orange County Sheriff’s Department official website.

On the investigations division web page we found a cartoon of world famous — and thoroughly inept — fictional French detective Jacques Clouseau where a portrait of the captain should be.

The cartoon seemed just a tad overboard. Is this the proper mascot for Orange County’s top detectives? Isn’t this like having Barney Fife represent the patrol deputies?

The Watchdog called sheriff’s spokesman John McDonald on Wednesday afternoon and in what seemed like an hour Clouseau was gone.pinkpanther

In the meantime, The Watchdog continued to click through the investigations division web pages — and our jaw dropped with each click. People sitting around our desk gasped at what appeared on screen.

The page dedicated to homicide detectives was anchored by a cartoon featuring a vulture sitting atop a badge dug into the desert sand. Leaning against the badge is a human skull. Not very sensitive to homicide victims or their families.homicidecartoon

Then, the Watchdog clicked on “Special Victims Detail” and what we found defies description. Or good taste. We include the page below with that warning.

When we contacted McDonald again, he was surprised by the illustrations. He said the cartoons had escaped his notice as well as that of veteran spokesman Jim Amormino and Investigations Capt. Lee Trujillo.

“I’m told it’s been on there forever,” McDonald said. “We’re looking at it and, like you, trying to figure out how they were put up there.”

Sheriff Sandra Hutchens walked by McDonald’s desk and was also aghast, he reported.

The homicide and sex crimes cartoons were pulled off the web site within an hour.

May The Watchdog suggest that the sheriff take away the webmaster’s cartoon privileges?

    BIG LOL:
I love that story, very funny, it serves them right since the cops in any form are just a paid by the state gang that thinks that everyone else but them is a criminal. They even look at you that way.

  • Neil2112 says:

As if Hutchens didn’t know what was on her own website? She is such a liar and I can’t wait to see her get voted out of office.

  • DISCO says:

Wow, way to take down the bad guys.

  • thirtyplus says:

SHOCKING!! DEFIES DESCRIPTION!!! Geez. Get a grip.

These are caricatures meant to inject a bit of lightheartedness into assignments that require it’s members to see the darkest part of human behavior. It’s known as “gallows humor”.

    • Richard says:

yes, I could never be an officer of the law. You are exposed to the worst human kind has to offer, daily. It never gets easier and it never seems to let up. Your job seems meaningless, cause you feel as if you will never make a difference. I do not see anything wrong with instilling a little humor on the topic, after all, you have to be reminded that there are good people out there who you must fight to protect. If that is how they see your job, then all the better for them, cause not everyone needs to see or know what the reality of the job really is.

    • Smarkell says:

Even Clousseu was a bumbler, he always got his man or woman. What’s wrong with a little humor? I did find the badge/skull/vulture a bit beyond the pale.

  • Larry Reilly says:

Wow, file this in the “Why Are We Wasting Time On This” folder.

  • Tony Saavedra, Register investigative reporter says:

To Disco…no bad guys involved here. Just insensitive frat boy humor that demeans an otherwise professsional — publicly funded - website.

    • 45yrsinoc says:

No kidding. I worked eight years in LASD’s Data Systems Bureau and while the humor is typical for LE, I can’t imagine how anyone could let think that was OK on a public-facing website.

I might have to start checking their HR website; there are probably going to be some high-level openings in IT.

    • jeff says:

      Hey Tony,
I guess we know who wears the pants in your family and who the drama queen is. Are you kidding? No wonder the register is going bankrupt. You’re the best they have to offer???

    • joe says:

Tony: “insensitive”…..”demeans.” Stop interjecting your personal opinions and just report the “news,” even if it’s not.

  • Tony Saavedra, Register investigative reporter says:

To Thirtyplus…I’m familiar with gallows humor. Usually its done behind the scenes, away from the public. Not on display in the official website. Agreed?

    • jimmydee says:

      agreed. 1000 % agreed.

It’s not bad, per se. It’s just most sheltered civilians don’t understand.

Cops usually keep this for the water cooler.

    • jeff says:

One more thing….Hey McDonald we know you’re the mole. You need to leave. I can’t believe the Sheriff keeps you around.

    • jeff says:

Apparently you are not “familiar with gallows humor” otherwise your panties wouldn’t be in such a bunch over it. By the way Saavedra, this is exactly why your rag is faultering. Poor, lame reporting about nonsense. There are thousands of victims out there we’ve helped over many years and I’m going to just guess at the moment that they would be just fine with our cartoons since we solved their crime. I’m sure they would be willing to give us just a little latitude in that area even if the ragister isn’t. We don’t have to hide just because you want us to. It doesn’t sound like a lot of people agree with you. Could be just one more hopeful nail in the coffin for the ragister. I hear the Penny Saver is hiring but you might need to get a little better at your job before they’d hire you.

  • bonnie russell says:

    Frat boy humor? Please Tony.

  • seaofgreen says:

You go watchdog, these types of articles are bound to save your bankrupt paper. These logos were created for the men and women of the detail with the intention of being displayed on coffee mugs and things of that nature. They were not meant to be an official logo or as a representation of the good work done by the detail members.

You couldn’t have just made the phone call and address the issue. It’s obvious that your feelings were echoed. No, you’ve gotta run an article on your website at yet another attempt to embarass the hard working men and women of the OCSD.

I can’t wait till one of you need the help of someone at the OCSD. It’s then when you will re-think your constant attempts to ridicule people who, for the majority, go out everyday in an attempt to keep peace in the county.

    • Boots2 says:

Seaofgreen: What a great reply to Tony Saveedra. You are so absolutely right. And another thing I would like to add, is that the OCR reports on horrible crimes and deaths, and they allow bloggers to write horrible comments about the deaths on their web site. So to make a big issue here instead of calling the OCSD, Mr. Saveedra feels that it is necessary to write this article. What a bunch of bull….It sure tells you how biased the OCR is when it comes to law enforcement…

      • Hope and Grace says:

Agreed! OCR, start censoring your nonsense before criticizing a few gallow cartoons that don’t affect the department or how it serves the folks of OC one iota! sheesh… where is the real news these days?

Why couldn’t OCR close down with their BK? A girl can want…

    • Les says:

All station 18 employees should cancel their OCR subscriptions, if they haven’t already. I canceled mine 2 years ago. I get the Times for $52 a year. They are pretty liberal, but at least they don’t hammer publc employees and public employee retirees, every day.

      • Donkey says:

Then the LATimes isn’t doing its job!!!

        • jeff says:

No, not that they are doing their job, just too busy reporting on real stories. Hey Saavedra you have two new friends in Donkey and Observer at least until you say something they don’t like then you’ll be the scourge of the media; a sellout; a bribe taker and all the other lies perpetuated by the former inmates.

        • Ken says:

That may be so, but both of the papers are bankrupt.

      • You think this is something new? It is not ! Just a different year. The same thing went on in the 1940’s. 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80″s. 90’s etc. When the OC Register wasn’t ragging on the police dept. they were on the school board. Times are the same just different ways of communication. It is still a lousy newspaper.

      • hankster says:

I’m working on my wife to cancel the OCR subscription. She likes one of the features unfortunately. Sooner or later we’re going to dump them. The watchmutt has a pathological hatred and envy toward public employees. It’s despicable.

  • jont92619 says:

I’m no fan of Appointed Sheriff Hutchens, but you guys at the OCR need to lighten up. Save the indignation for something that really deserves it. If Hutchens had any moxy she would have told you the same.

Bill Hunt for Sheriff in 2010…

  • Vicky says:

Oh great, The OC watchdog is the new ACLU. I agree with thirtyplus, it was meant to inject lightheartedness. OC watchdog I think you could find something better. This isn’t nazi germany. Yet

  • jon doe says:

This is news why, OCSD is a paramilitary institution, this is where things like this come from, the same as old hanger art and nose art. Is this what we have come too? Nothing is wrong with the cartoons. The register is just trying to sell more papers to get out of bankruptcy!! If I ran a department I would have a big skull on my police cars if it kept crime down and scared bad guys. People are just too thinned skinned these days. Let them do the job they where hired to!!

  • In Cabo says:

Come on. Get over yourself. If you want to be a watchdog, go after real bad guys. Go back under your facist rock.

  • Red Ryder says:

Way to make a mountain out of a molehill. This was a simple matter of calling the so-called offenses to the attention of the sheriff and it would have been handled quietly. Most of these posts are right. Gallows humor. Of course it’s best kept private,…. but I fail to see the importance of the story in any case. No wonder the print media is going downhill so fast. If this is what they consider worthy of column inches, then I think it’s adios for newspapers and soon.

  • Bill says:

Is this a joke? Please tell me this article is a joke? Who the eff cares?!?!

  • livinlargeinoc says:

Well Tony, you just left yourself wide open for ridicule on this one. Those logos have indeed been on the OCSD website for many years, perhaps as many as 6 or 7. If you’re the county’s appointed watchdog, where the hell have you been? I find it hard to believe that you and your band of merry watchdogs haven’t perused the website in all these years and missed this.

Must have been a slow watchdog newsday and you didn’t have anything else to pick on. Get a life!

  • icedamericano says:

Those are stupid cartoons for a public website. Not exactly a major scandal in my opinion but stupid. Plus they are probably infringing someone’s copyright on the Clouseau cartoon and possibly the others as well. This looks like the kind of thing that happens when someone putting together the web page goes searching for clip art, or at least art that can be saved with a right-click - instead of actually having a designer put things together. At least, I hope so.

  • livinlargeinoc says:

Oh yeah, and that was a very lame response by McDonald. Yup, the same John McDonald that used to work with you at the O.C Rag. Until he was let go and then hired by the ethically challenged former assistant sheriff/undersheriff/assistant sheriff Galisky. He was hired to help her attempt to rehabilitate the eroding reputation of the now convicted felon Carona.

His new job is to write entries in the OCSD blog. So with nothing more to do but write OCSD propaganda all day, one would think that at some point he has had the time to review the department’s web site to familiarize himself with what each division does.

  • JB says:

The wrecking ball of political correctness at it again! Bad things happen a little at a time. Starts with speech codes, then censorship and ends with tyranny and oppression.

  • John says:

“Our jaw dropped with each click. People sitting around our desk gasped at what appeared on screen.”

Wow Watchdog! You really got em! Thanks for protecting us from these horrible cartoons. I will really sleep better tonight knowing you got the Sheriff’s Department. In case you can’t tell, Im being sarcastic.

You are really scraping the bottom of the barrell now Tony Saavedra. Struggling to find good stories huh? Frat boys??? Tony, Im sorry you weren’t cool in high school or college. Are you using your little bit of power to get back at some of those people who actually had a life in high school/college. Go get em Tony! You’re my HERO!

To the Sheriff’s Department: You’re a bunch of spineless jelly fish. Anytime somebody criticizes your department, you just cave like cowards. It would be a relief to see you guys actually tell the Register to go S*#@W themselves. Get a backbone!

  • Eliz says:

I honestly can’t imagine what OCSD would do without WatchDog!!!

  • Rico says:

Talk about trying to make something out of nothing! Honestly they are just cartoons and not distasteful in my opinion. Lighten up OCR.

  • Brandon says:

Seriously?!?!?! Questionable? This article is a waste. OCSD should be proud that this is the only “dirt” this paper can dig up… Wow, must be nice being perfect

  • Ben Dover says:

this takes the cake as one of most stupid articles the OC Rag has printed. I know they are desperate to bash the OCSD, but this is just stupid. Most police/fire/military units have caricatures representing their unit/detail.

  • Donkey says:

This is what happens when the fox runs the Henhouse. Many in LE are demented and sociopathic about others outside their cult.
One of the clowns on here claimed that regular citizens are “sheltered.” As if they had grown up in another world.
The problem is not that the public is sheltered. It is that LE is way too secret and needs to be more pellucid and scrutinized by the non-LE citizens.

    • jeff says:

You are sheltered Donkey and are part of this self righteous, demanding band of snobs that seem to think we should kiss your a$$. We don’t care what you think and god willing you’ll screw up and we’ll be there when you do. People like you do nothing for society and find fault with everything. You have nothing to offer anyone except your snide remarks and unsubstantiated theories about everyone and everything. You and guys like Savedra will never garner any respect in this world. People see you like they see Savedra now as a whiny, thin skinned hack with a job that is in question. Is this really the best you can do Savedra? Thank god for dumb reporters.

  • jont92619 says:

The headline should read, “Questionable article pulled from OCR website”

  • DAC says:

Pit Bull reporter Tony Saavedra at it again attacking The OCSD and Sheriff Hutchens. Want to know if Sheriff Corona gave Tony a gun pass,??? I don’t remember him attacking Sheriff Carona like he is attacking the Department now. Thanks to all the folks that protested this silly article.

  • Donald says:

“Capt. Lee Trujillo has a bushy moustache and large sniffer…” ~and how big is your sniffer, Mr. Saavedra?

  • Techie714 says:

Whoever complains about those “cartoons” is a complete PC NIMROD & should just go away & die.

  • Digger says:

Were the cartoons appropriate for a departmental website? No. Should it be the source of such indignation and shock from the watchdog? No. Tony your “gotcha” moment is fizzling and this story is truly a waste of ink (if it should get to the print version).

Why not focus on real government waste and abuse of power and get over this pettiness?

  • Dave says:

    Dear John McDonald (Sheriff Spokesman),

Tell Sheriff Hutchens the general public is outraged. Outraged that you’d let a Register reporter roll all over the Department on such a ridicously petty issue. If those graphics have been on the OCSD website for an extended period, I ask how many members of the public complained? I bet the answer is goose egg. So why bow down??

This County wants composed, confident leadership in the Department. Reacting so swiftly to a single reporter’s pitiful inquiry is just plain knee jerk public relations. Put the graphics back up Sheriff! Bill O’ Reilly would projectile vomit over the stupidity found in this story. Perhaps he should be made aware of this.

Note to file: I do not work for OCSD. Just tired of this bankrupt publication spitting on public services.

  • Sondra says:

LOL I must be a mean wicked person because I don’t see this as a big deal and even kind of chuckled at some of the pictures. *smacks hand* bad me!

  • K.D. says:

“and our jaw dropped with each click. People sitting around our desk gasped at what appeared on screen.” I’m going to use some sarcastic humor and mention that all this article needs is a little more drama infused into it. Agreed?

  • Boots2 says:

To Tony Saavedra - you call yourself an Investigative Reporter? You were completely wrong in writing this article! What a waste - guess you aren’t very busy and you are looking for something that might start up another anti-OCSD blogging round - but it backfired, as most of the sane citizens in OC (excluding of course, DONKEY) disagree with you and you have made yourself look like an idiot.

  • Donkey says:

Tony, don’t let the LE propaganda machine push you into not doing what is right, such as exposing how twisted some of these people are and how they need to be watched.

    • Policeman says:

LE exposed? As opposed to what? How about exposing the illegal alien gang members and home grown gang bangers that are completely f’ing up the OC? By the way Donkey, next time (and there will be a next time) don’t call the police when you need us…just handle it yourself.

      • pb PAUL says:

The cartoons where unprofessional. But the statement by Policeman ” don’t call the police when you need us” was even more unprofessional. I hope that Policeman is just a cop wanto be.

  • ocobserver says:

Most of the homicide det’s are paid in excess of $175000 and looking forward to retirements 3%@50 and this is the quality we get in return? Rude cartoons on the official OCSD website? And they call themselves the ‘best and the brightest’? They tell us that those fat salaries and pensions are a requirement to find the ‘best and the brightest’. That they had to pass many tests and backgrounds to get where they are. hah!

    • Donkey says:

LIke Jefferson said, ” the law is often only the tyrants will.”

    • jeff says:

You wish they made that much so you could substantiate your lies. The national average for solvability for a homicide is lest than 50%. The California state average for solvability lies somewhere around 55%. The OCSD homicide rate of solvability for homicide is in excess of 85%. I know math probably escapes OC complainer and Donkey but as a citizen of the OC I’m pretty thankful for them.

  • 25 to life says:

It’s got to be a slow news day, seems to be much adieu about nothing. Cut the Cops some slack.

  • Ghengis says:

The OCR “Watchdog” wrote, Then, the Watchdog clicked on “Special Victims Detail” and what we found defies description. Or good taste.

You might want to dig a little deeper. I can’t read the artist’s signature at the bottom of the cartoon, becasue the cartoon is too small. However, judging by the artwork itself it appears to be the work of OC Sheriff hopeful (2010) W. Hunt. Thats right, this cartooon that you find so distasteful looks like it was inked by none other than Bill Hunt who was, once upon a time, one of the Department’s favorite cartoonists.

  • know em all says:

    Tony,
These have been around for over ten years….Look at the lower right signature on each…Bill Hunt drew all of them….Politics?

  • BIGLOL says:

No one hates the Sheriff or law enforcement more than me, but give me a break! They can’t have humor or cartoons?
They were funny as hell! You expect them to sit around all serious all day?

  • mary says:

And these are the things we should be concerned with? Yawn.

Good Lord Tony, get a life.

  • hadenoughgalso says:

    Great Story, Not!

  • observatory1969 says:

I have taken the OCR for approximately 30+ years now and remain a loyal reader, but really Watchdog. And you have the audacity to write, ‘Even though Capt. Lee Trujillo has a bushy moustache and large sniffer…” A large sniffer?! Talk about questionable. I think you are a little full of yourself on this one. Questionable cartoons?! Please. May i suggest that The Watchdog take a break and some deep breaths. Maybe take away your watchdog privileges for a day?

  • Sta 18veteran says:

As Usual ocobserver you make a statement that you have no proof. Show me where most of the detectives in the homicide dept. at ocsd make in thye excess of 175,000 a year. I have never seen anything printed in the papers saying anything at all of this.Yoou really need to get a life.

  • observatory1969 says:

Excuse me, OC Watchdog, but perhaps you could cover the bankruptcy story where Freedom is looking to pay bonuses during bankruptcy to OCR employees. Bonuses. And you think you scored big with “questionable” cartoons? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

  • Donkey says:

Tony, I like your papers coverage of the thieving public employees. How they act and how they steal from the taxpayers to stuff their pockets with their underworked and over paid coffee gulping jobs.

  • jeff says:

Donkey and Observer, friends of Saavedra. Good luck with that Saavedra.

  • CHUCK says:

Tremendous investigative reporting; I’m canceling my subscription to the New York Times so I can get this Pulitzer Prize winning journalism everyday! You really spent a lot of time and effort to take another cheap shot at the Sheriff’s Department. I wish the Sheriff would stand up to this rag and quite cowering to the Board of Supervisors.

  • CJ says:

I agree a public use website for a government organization should be strictly professional. This pics remind me of cheesy PowerPoint clipart.

  • Anaheim Girl says:

Now that you’ve taken care of those cartoons, Tony, may I suggest that you go after the Anaheim PD for putting “Gang Enforcement” on their cop cars. Why on earth are they enforcing gangs? I want to see them getting rid of the gangs, not enforcing them. Thanks in advance.

  • Richard says:

Wow! you guys really need to get a life. who cares about cartoons on the Sheriff’s web-site.

  • Wow, with all the things going on right now the OCR Watchdog is worried about this. You jaw really dropped with each click of the mouse button? You must lead such a sheltered life if those cartoons made your jaw drop. I take it you don’t watch T.V. at all, because there is alot worse content on T.V.

    Get a life watchdog.

  • thejekyl says:

Gosh, getting so tired of all the “BS”, “Gray”, whatever you want to call it, messages the OCSD delivers. Hutch - clean it up already or get the frig out.

This is just insane … or stupid.

    • Voter says:

Be careful what you wish for. Hutchins idea of “cleaning up” OCSD is turning it into LAPD. She is taking a department that had a few bad apples and instead of dealing with them she is breaking the spirit of those who did a good job.

Remember LAPD post Rampart? When the cops were afraid to do their jobs because the administration was head hunting. Thats is what Hutchins LAPD like policy changes are doing to OCSD.

      • Ken says:

        Hutchens was from L.A. sheriff.

      • HeartyAdvocate says:

Peolpe should be afraid, very afraid. Not of Tony telling the truth but of the OCSD not telling us the truth. Stay tuned, keep an open mind and soon you will see what is realing going down with an agency we have put our trust, lost our trust in, put our trust in again………it comes around.

  • jeff says:

Wow what a scoop, what a story. Wow, Wow, Wow you superhero reporters just amaze me with your ability to look at a screen and find something wrong with it and then write a story about it. Stand by Orange County, tomorrows headlines will read about the two G’s on the homepage of the Google Webpage. And Friday we’ll be in for a real treat. Saavedra’s crack investigative skills will point out all the things you can buy on Amazon.com. And just wait for Sunday’s overpriced edition, you won’t believe what you will find on the Verizon website…PHONES! What ever would we do without Saavedras’ finely honed investigative skills. Maybe we can get Saavedra to investigate why their paper is falling on hard times and tell us why they are going to be totally irrelevant not too long from now. Oh wait, he already did that when he wrote this article.

  • terry says:

you people are so childish to think that this is not appropreiate but in this day and age if we don’t have something to laugh about on are job then it would make for a sad work day so just relax and think about the men and women who put their life on the line for us would you rather have them sharp minded or not awake and if this helps to catch the bad guy’s then lighten up show a little RESPECT for all who help us and this means to lighten up on all LAW ENFORCEMENT doesn’t everybody out their make fun of someone anyone at there own work place so what’s the big deal when it come’s to LAW their no different then anybody else soTHINK before you SPEAK

  • jake says:

Another slow day at the bankrupt register.

  • 714person says:

How embarrasing for the Orange County Register to waste resources on such a ridiculous “investigative” report.

  • JohnnyB says:

What a joke….. who really cares about the cartoons on the site… except the OC rag. But looks like the OC sheriff department folded AGAIN under the print. What a JOKE!

  • REDD CELL says:

Are you serious? The hardcore OC Watchdog really needs to get a life. This is a complete waste of time. Perhaps the Sheriff’s Dept was trying to make the website a little more friendly to the general public. As it is most people view all cops as the bad guys. Or the mean guys. Or whatever. Isn’t it possible that the cartoons were put there to try and lighten things up just a tad? This is an excellent example of why the Register is in so much trouble. Perhaps if they would focus on the news people would stop canceling their subscriptions, advertisers wouldn’t be backing out of their campaigns, and the paper would not be in bankruptcy.

  • Rico says:

The OCR really should clean up it’s own back yard before trying to make an issue about a few harmless cartoons. I just read an article about human trafficking and how the OCR publishes ads for these brothels. Hypocritical to say the least.

  • Alan says:

There goes a couple thousand dollars of our tax money to contact their webmaster and have them change the site.

Now they will waste more tax money on putting together an Internal Investigation based on the request and spend a few months along with tens of thousands of dollars to determine that it was an oversight. After that another committee will be formed and more tax money spent on putting new procedures in place for future website updates. So after spending a quarter million dollars we will hopefully not have any issues like this for at least a couple years.

Could of spent that money on a few hours of overtime and work on solving actual crimes.

  • kb says:

i’m willing to bet that it was some web developer/designer with no direct contact with law enforcement that thought those cartoons were actually appropriate.

  • mishmopbillybob says:

Everyone complains about the cops. Who they are and what they think they are made of etc. etc. etc…until they need one. Yeah, the caroons are silly and probably should not be on a publicly funded web site, but I would think there are worse things to write and complain about.

  • iloveoc says:

People want transparancy in the agency, and when they get it, they whine and cry it isn’t appropriate. LE humor IS NOT meant for the average citizen. So they put a little humor into their individual logos, big deal!

Humor is a stress reducer, something this men and women need every day. Heck, if I had to deal with sex crimes, I’m sure I’d have something tackier.

IF YOU DON”T LIKE IT, DON”T LOOK!!

    • ocobserver says:

Better yet, don’t act like snot-nosed juveniles and post your demented humor on a public website paid for by the taxpayers that is supposed to represent OC’s finest. For christ sakes, act like professionals. What’s wrong? Aren’t we paying you enough? Isn’t $175k and a 3%@50 good enough for ya? Do we have to up the ante to $250k with a 4%@55 to get you to act like adult professionals on the county website???

  • bobexoc says:

OCR editor to reporter………. not much news today? Let’s find something to bash OCSD about. It doesn’t matter how trivial or un-newsworthy.

I’m sure we have at least three (3) OCSD haters, cop-haters and maybe ex-cons who are jealous of deputies pay and benefits and will back your play and give you good comments. Go for it Tony…. we’ve got to print something!!!!

  • Morons says:

Bill Hunt drew these pictures. They’ve been on the website for years.

  • thejekyl says:

Holy smokes, that many LE reading OCR tonight? Please, it’s getting obvious!

  • koolaid says:

So some dumb clip art is off the sheriffs website? whew, that’s such a relief, the streets are safe once again. Everyone knows not to even go to the Sheriffs website, cause Your ip will be logged and tracked. well i’m sure the dept. will operate exactly the same, sans inspecteur cleausseo. and society will still continue to be led down the same path with or without the harmless little images. So why is this news? btw.

  • Bubba says:

See? All this article did was serve those who are Law Enforcement haters, such as Donkey. If you look at all of Donkey’s posts throughout OCR, you find him ranting and raving about L.E. At least all the articles about L.E.

No one else cares about the stupid cartoons. The only reason you were on the OCSD website, Tony, in my opinion, was to find something to write about. This was a lame article.

  • ER RN says:

Lightheartedness??? In a death?? Jokes at the expense of victims and their familes??

When Carona was in charge this behavior was sanctioned and defended. It seems that that arrogant disregard for the public continues.

As I walked into my house, a OCSD SO walked out of my bedroom - where my wife’s body had been discovered - flipped a bottle of antibiotics into the air with his thumb, looked me right in the eye and with a smirk on his face said, “Another unhappy camper”. Antibiotics! The A.Hole.S.O. NEVER apologized , even when all tox came back negative. The coronor’s deputy said that the A.Hole.S.O. was just trying to “lighten up the atmosphere a little”. I wrote a complaint, and got the basic “How dare you question our professionalism?” reply. Three of the people listed on the letterhead are now convicted felons.

I’ve worked in ERs for years and while we might make jokes about wing-nuts who get themselves into absurb situations, as a profession we don’t tolerate jokes about critical or fatal injuries.

I have no use for the OCSD.

  • livinlargeinoc says:

Majority rules….with all of the “double-dipping” and other important county-wide issues to highlight, this was a very stupid subject for the “watchdog” to write about. Almost as stupid as the removal of the cartoons from the website. Lame!

  • Amanda says:

I’m amazed at the shortsightedness of the majority of those who have commented on this.

The Sheriff’s Department has the responsibility to tackle serious crime. I can’t imagine how those who are unfortunate enough to have to rely on their services would ever see the humor in those tacky, insensitive cartoons. Imagine logging on as a victim of a crime who needs guidance and seeing pathetic illustration next to the information. It would only serve to belittle rather than encourage or serve as reassurance of support.

I’m disgusted and completely shocked that they were unaware that this was on their public facing website. Get a grip, OCSD and give the public the assurance they need.

  • goldencheese says:

If “OC Watchdog” is my “Tax Dollars at Work” then no wonder CA is going down the shathole.

  • Windfall says:

Affirmative Action Sheriff Sandra Hutchens is incompetent… and making nearly $500, 000 per year.

For a half a million dollars a year, we can’t find someone more professional than this?

  • Kennedy says:

    HEY OCOBSERVER,
FIRST OF ALL THE HOMICIDE INVESTIGATORS DO NOT MAKE 175K A YEAR, WHOEVER TOLD YOU THAT WAS SMOKING SOMETHING FUNNY! AND AS FOR THE LOGOS, GUESS WHO IS THE ASPIRING ARTIST? FORMER SHERIFFS LT. OH WAIT MY BAD, DEPUTY SHERIFF BILL HUNT. WAY TO GO MOLE MCDONALD INSTEAD OF TELLING SOME HALF RATE REPORTER TO SUCK IT UP, YOU LET HIM GO WITH THE STORY. I AM SO GLAD THEY KEPT YOU AROUND AND LAID OFF GOOD PEOPLE.

  • Bryan says:

Way to go “investigative reporter”. Giving us the big scoop of what is available for all to see on a rather busy public website. You are just like the ACLU-always trying to bring down what is good about America.

  • BOOYA says:

    Look…
isn’t quite possible they are just really admitting their orange county department is a joke…?

  • gary says:

As a marketing professional, I have to ask why they chose cartoon illustrations for their website in the first place. What demographic are they targeting? 8 year olds? Is that the brand identity they are going for? Goofy, inept, tactless? That might be an accurate description of most of the deputies I’ve run into, but something as serious as law enforcement should demand something a little more confidence-inspiring from their website.

  • Thoughtful says:

    Tony,
When you write about OCSD on something that is minor like this it’s a waste of time. Don’t you honestly have anything better to do with your time? There are real issues going out there like the troops at war and many other issues such as the economy and the mess. You will need OCSD one day to protect you should something happens perhaps you should consider keeping your observations to yourself. Your articles have been offensive as well and unprofessional. When you need law enforcement you are grateful that they help you, so perhaps you should keep somethings to yourself, because remember these people put their lives on the line every single day they go on duty for you as well as the other citizens. You have no idea what the job entails as you have never done it yourself, so don’t judge until you have done that. I agree with the ER Nurse that in her case the comment was very unprofessional and distasteful in her case but that’s not always the case. and ER Nurse one day you might need law enforcement just as they will need you as a nurse, sorry for your bad experience I have had just as bad of one with an ER Nurse and a DR. so perhaps the comments that you have no use for them is incorrect. In closing Tony find something else to write about so you don’t take the register down with you.

  • marinevet0811 says:

Those toons have existed for years. It’s a shame all have lost their sense of humor in a world full of economic woes and joblessness. With all the other problems going on in the OC, it saddens me that this is what the BB size brained “watchdog” people are digging up. How about doing some watchdog vigilance over at the BOS office starting with that corrupt Mauk and Moorlach. With their plush office remodels including furniture and big screen HDTV’s. Let’s go where the watching is really needed, huh? CARTOONS…give me a break! I know Lee Trujillo and he has a great sense of humor. And, that cartoon was not meant to depict him. That was out before he took the reins. Hey watchdogs, you want somewhere else to “sniff” around? Go the the American Legion in Newprt Beach and check out the finances and corruption going on there. Now that would be worthwhile. CARTOONS! SHEESH…..

  • marinevet0811 says:

He’s a taxpayer, I’m a taxpayer we are all taxpayers so it’s time to get over it and move on to some more intelligent posting. SHEESH! BORING!

      • interesting1 says:

Exactly I say Hunt in 2010, as well. He is a stand up guy and he was the only one who wrote the report during the Corona thing. He did the right thing and would do an excellent job!

  • JoeyJojo says:

    This article was stupid.

  • Sta 18veteran says:

I’m suprised ocobserver didn’t bring up the incident of the Female Lt who got arrested for drunk driving about 6 months ago as that seems to be the ONLY topic he likes to talk about. Its no wonder that OCR is going bankrupt if this is such an important story to them.

    • ocobserver says:

Is Giudice still drawing that fat $100k plus paycheck after driving her police vehicle DRUNK and colliding with an innocent motorist stopped at a light???

DId she lose any rank for that??? Or is she still a lieutenant overseeing other DRUNKS at the OC Jail now??? Now she can order the other DRUNKS around and tell them what bad human beings they are!!!! hah!!!

Better yet…she can just order the shotcallers to deal with the other DRUNKS so she won’t even have to get her hands dirty, hah!

What a joke of a system we have!!!!

  • Interesting says:

I’m suprised that Tony doesn’t have something better to write about. There are a lot more important things such as the war, economy, etc. What Tony is forgetting and some of the other readers in the way they type is that they will need to call upon OCSD one day and need their services. These men and women protect you, your communities and also preserve life. There are many instances where they rescue and safe lives. So before you put a negative ad that is petty I would think about what you are saying. Try writing without bringing your personal opinions into it rather than just factual. ER nurse a Dr can’t help you with everything so I bet one day you will have a use for OCSD just as the deputies and everyone else will have a use for you. There are Nurses that have said equally distasteful things as well. I do agree the that the S.O. said a distasteful comment that was wrong, sorry for your loss and bad experience. As for you Tony please get a life and write about a real story or real issue not something petty. As a watchdog or investigator find something that is worthy or reading.

  • ed says:

I guess theres no humor in the world today. Have we become a society of (My views are better then yours).!!! People we need to get on with our lives and stop worrying about such pety things.

  • Rocket says:

Everybody take a chill pill. Are the cartoons inappropiate for a public website? Absolutely. Should they be taken down. Probably. Did this article get everyone’s attention? Sure did. Are they here and not at the LA Times. Yep………

  • Watchdog needs to lighten up. Talk about a bunch of stiffs. Can’t anyone have a little fun any more? The OCSD and their community have much bigger problems that should be addressed before the lighthearted cartoons. Watchdog, get your priorities straight.

  • saturnx311 says:

Are you effing kidding me? I think this is Twilight Zone or something.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, offensive or inappropriate about the cartoons!
Hello! What have we come to that we’re going to be afraid to offend…..WHO?
I just cannot believe you people, am I missing something here? Maybe I’m not looking at the same cartoons as everyone else is.
I must be in the tiny minority around here,
maybe because I come from back East, where people would simply appreciate the cartoons for what they are instead of running around in constant worry about offending someone, maybe some imaginary special interest group.
If you live life by what you imagine are other people’s rules, you are going to be missing out on a large part of it. Life, that is.
This is disgusting. Everyone misses out on the talent of a cartoon artist because of this damn watchdog group. Nothing to do these days, huh guys?
Why don’t the members of the watchdog group get real jobs?

  • Sandra go away says:

Our she-riff is a clerk who is in way over her head.

    • interesting1 says:

Actually Sheriff Hutchens came in and cleaned up a huge mess, she has done an excellent job as well as the deputies of OCSD. There is by far less crime in these communities than in the surrounding counties such as Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino to name a few. Perhaps you should check stats ” Sandra go away” I doubt you could do a better job.

  • Steve says:

None of these people know what’s really going on among themselves, and they don’t care. Many years ago, as a naive Sheriff Explorer Scout, we were told by a veteran deputy that there are two types of people in the world, law enforement, and scumbags. What does that ell you about the mentality of the OCSD? Hmmm?

By STU WOO and JIM CARLTON
The cost of shoring up Calpers, the troubled $200 billion pension fund for California public employees, will ultimately fall on the state’s 38 million residents, who are already dealing with tax increases and reduced public services.

The state and local governments are contractually bound to increase their payments to Calpers to help it make up for its investment losses of more than $50 billion in the fiscal year ended June 30. Officials around the state are calling for more oversight of Calpers, which announced Wednesday it was investigating fees paid by its investment managers.

Getty Images California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, shown in Los Angeles Sept. 30, asked this summer for stricter oversight of public funds such as Calpers.
    .
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office in July asked the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, which oversees public funds such as Calpers, for stricter oversight of the funds.

David Crane, an economics adviser to Mr. Schwarzenegger, said the fund’s losses mean “there is less money for parks and recreation, less money for the University of California, less money for health and human services.”

For the 2009-2010 fiscal year, Mr. Crane said the state had to spend an additional $3.3 billion from its general-fund budget to make up for Calpers’s poor performance. The state is expecting to cover further Calpers losses in the next fiscal year as well. Those expenses add to the financial troubles California has faced in the past year, including a $60 billion budget shortfall that lawmakers closed by increasing taxes, slashing spending and raiding the coffers of already cash-strapped cities and counties.

In the Orange County city of Fullerton, officials said they were notified by Calpers in August that their city would have to pay a total of $5.5 million more in the four-year period beginning in 2011 to fully fund city employees’ retirements. The city, which passed a balanced budget in June that included a hiring freeze, has already dipped another $4 million into the red and now plans to cut employee pay by an as-yet-undetermined amount.

“The bottom line from my point of view is that just about the time we will start to see a recovery in 2011, we are going to have this huge additional cost,” said Fullerton City Manager Chris Meyer.

In Ontario, City Manager Greg Devereaux said Calpers’s woes could make it even more difficult for his Southern California city of 175,000 to provide essential services. Already, the city this year had to dip into a rainy-day fund and get its police and firefighters to waive pay raises to avoid a $13.8 million shortfall tied to a roughly 25% plunge in revenues from 2007.

Ontario’s annual payments of $8.2 million to Calpers are expected to increase by another $6 million, or 75%, by 2015 to help cover the investment losses, Mr. Devereaux said. “If there’s a shortfall in Calpers, we’re the ones who have to pay for it. And any shortfall reduces the level of services we can provide,” he said.

Other local officials said Calpers’s losses would ultimately have to be covered by the taxpayer. “I think the taxpayers are going to be footing the bill for years because of less-than-stellar decisions on investments,” said Brett Barbre, a director with the Municipal Water District of Orange County, whose employees’ pensions are with Calpers. “This is going to affect every city, county and special district that is in Calpers. They will have to cover all of the losses, as well as the ancillary issues that are being uncovered.”

Many cities are held hostage by their pension-benefit costs incurred in past years, said Mike Parness, city manager for the Northern California city of Napa. During the 1990s, when Calpers was flush with cash and charging low rates, many cities like Napa increased employee benefits to compete for workers, he said.

But now, some of those cities are finding themselves stuck with high pension costs at a time when the housing bust and recession have driven down revenues, Mr. Parness said. For example, he said that for some employees, pension benefits as a percentage of employee compensation have soared from 14% to 40% over the years. If the city tried to roll back benefits now, it would not be able to hire anyone, he said. And the city must divert any increase in revenue to pay for pension benefits instead of services. “We must change this system. It’s unsustainable,” Mr. Parness said.

  • ER RN says:

The cartoons are most definately NOT insignificant. When a person is involved in a tragedy, every little thing gets seared into their memories. (See my earlier post).

I still remember with absolute clarity everything about that SO - how tall he was, his hair color, his voice, his badge number. . .

But mostly it’s his ARROGANT INDIFFERENCE to a person to whom he is SWORN to serve - a victim and her family! And it’s institutional at OCSD.

  • Boots2 says:

Here Tony, let me help the OC Watchdog publish something else from the OCSD Website:

Public Writes Letters of Praise for Department Employees: On September 11, 2009, we received a handwritten letter from a Ms. Emily P. of Mission Viejo. Her letter states:

“Dear Police Officers! My name is Emily P. I am going to second grade. I wanted to say thank you for protecting our homes.”

Anna MacKenzie from American Airlines wrote a letter of commendation for the following Airport Operations Division members:

Sergeant Dave Manley, Deputy Lionel Luna, Deputy Scott Vanover, Deputy Richard Leonard, Sheriff’s Special Officer Dan Truong and Sheriff’s Special Officer Charles Volkel. MacKenzie wrote: “I would like to thank the members of the Airport Operations Division who donated their time to help make Operation Snowflake a success and a lasting memory for our Snowball Express families!

The picnic will now be a yearly event, so we can continue to honor and bring some joy to the surviving spouses and children of our fallen U.S. military personnel. Snowball Express is the charity for the children of our fallen military heroes. We started in 2006 with a simple idea: Provide hope and new memories to the children of our fallen military heroes who died while on active duty since September 11, 2001. As a Nation, we are blessed. We owe it to these children to do something special and nothing is better than meeting someone who is just like you.”

CSO Carrie Murray of San Clemente Police Services received a letter of thanks from Alyssa B. for returning her lost camera.

Miss B. said she spent over $1,000 of her babysitting money for her camera and it is one of the most important things in the world to her. She inadvertently left the camera on the beach and was excited to find out CSO Murray found the camera and returned it to her.

Miss B. said, “Your honesty means a huge amount to me and I think that life will reward you for that eventually.”

Lieutenant Paul D’Auria of San Clemente Police Services received a phone call from Don H. of Sea Pointe Estates. Mr. H. called to commend Deputy Sherri Gilman for the manner in which she handled a call at his residence last month. Mr. H. said he had arrived home late one evening from a trip out of state. He was exhausted and left his vehicle parked outside, leaving the doors unlocked. The vehicle was ransacked later that evening and Deputy Gilman responded to take the report. Mr. H. said Deputy Gilman was very professional and helpful and feels she is a real asset to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and San Clemente Police Services.

Lynn Woods from the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce recently sent a letter of commendation and appreciation to Sergeant Nancy Gafner of San Clemente Police Services for her work in making the annual Street Fiesta a success. This event attracts over 40,000 people and with Sgt. Gafner organizing and preparing the security for the event, the Fiesta was a safe, family-friendly event for all attendees. Ms. Wood wrote, “I have worked with San Clemente Police Services on many Chamber of Commerce events, however the Fiesta is a major event that needs the strong direction of a law enforcement leader. Sgt. Gafner is that leader and without her direction, this event could not continue to be as successful as it has been since she has coordinated the law enforcement services.”

Office Technician Leo Figueroa of Airport Operations Division received a letter of commendation from passenger Terri K., who is a teacher for Odessa High School in Washington. K. wrote: “While returning home with 16 students, one of the student’s laptops was left behind. I contacted the Sheriff’s Lost and Found and was relieved to find out the laptop was safe. Because of Leo’s help, the laptop arrived in perfect condition!”

On September 3, 2009, Kristin Kvesic from the Orange County Food Bank wrote a letter thanking the Airport Operations Division for a recent food donation. Kvesic wrote: “Because of your efforts, we collected over 114 pounds of much needed food for the County Food Bank. We would like to thank Sheriff’s Special Officer Sterling Young for delivering the food to us and to all of those who participated in the food drive. Many will benefit from your generosity!”

  • 1015man says:

I agree with all the other courageous LEOs on this thread. Register = cop haters.

    • ocobserver says:

1015man (I know your former moniker too, btw) = taxpayer and civilian hater!!!!

      • interesting1 says:

1015 is correct Tony and the Register are cop haters. He honestly can’t find something else to write about? Perhaps you should work on your professionalism Tony and work for the Penny Saver as they are hiring. and Ocobserver are you sure you’re not a former inmate or someone who’s had run-ins with the law?

    • hankster says:

Actually the OCR hates all public employees, not just police. Their salary and pensions are so meager in comparison that they’re driven to pathological envy syndrome. Nothing is too low for the OCR vermin to try to exploit in their quest to destroy public service as an admirable career.

  • BMX says:

    Yeah, Boots2
The Hell’s Angels also has a food and toy drive for kids too.

  • Wiglet says:

Neither Tony, Donkey or OCObserver could have gotten into any fraternity if their lives depended on it. Fraternities have standards, and these guys just don’t cut it. Police Departments are fraternal organizations (Anyone hear of the Fraternal Order of Police?) and neither Tony, Donkey or OCObs could have gotten into a police agency either. Except maybe as an arrestee. I think all three of you had your milk money stolen one too many times. Get lives, please!

  • 1015man says:

Right Wiglet. We should also quit protecting them too and see how long they last. I bet they are old hippies that never grew up. LOL

  • John S. says:

The Watchdog continued to click through the investigations division web pages — and our jaw dropped with each click. People sitting around our desk gasped at what appeared on screen.

While it seems dumb looking and unprofessional, I think jaw dropping and gasping is a little exaggerated.

  • sta 18veteran says:

Kennedy as usual ocobserver is full of BS when he says Homicide Invest. for ocsd make 175 k a year and he has NO Facts to back up his dumb A** claim. But then again I think Ocobserver is smoking the crack pipe and can’t back up his ridiculous statement with any facts. I asked him earlier for proof of his statement but none was forthcoming becasue he has none. All he ever wants to do is whine about the 3%50 and the female LT from the Sheriffs Dept that got arrested 6 months ago for drunk driving.

    • ocobserver says:

To be a homicide det you gotta have alot of seniority since that is considered the cadillac of cop jobs. most of those guy make $175k (salary and OT) easy a year. If you bake the pension benefit into the cake you’re talking $250k a year or more. So you’re full of BS, doofus. Not me.

Fact is, we, the taxpayer, pay you louts good coin to work for the county and you taint the county funded website with rude and inappropriate humor that embarrasses the county in the eyes of the world. You’re not professionals. You’re court jesters.

Don’t we pay you enough to act professional, at least in public??? If you want to display rude and crude humor behind closed doors that you’re business. But don’t aire your dirty linen in the public eye. Grow up. Be professional. At least feign that you deserve the money we give you. Can’t you do that at least??? Fake it???

  • TheTruth says:

    OCOBSERVER,
You have NO idea what it takes to get into OCSD Homicide. There is not one person in the detail that is close to 175K. The cartoons were “Rude and Crude?” You must be in bed with Tony…so to speak. Why are you so angry? So sad.

    • ocobserver says:

Thetruth, that’s a load. What do you know? You think cops go straight from patrol to homicide? Not unless they have a super-godfather up in the corner office. Most cops spend years clawing for a homicide position. And most never make it. So think about it, genius. A OCSD cop works 7 years in the jail. Goes to patrol for another 4. Finally gets an entry level det job in robbery. Goes to vice/narco. Sex crimes. Then MAYBE to homicide if the boys like him. 15-20 years on the job. At that point pulling down a base salary of $100k+. Homicide is nothing but OT heaven. So tack on another $50k + premium pay. Easy $175k. Toss in benefits and pension benefit accrued….another $75k. Total package: $250k. There, genius. Those are my numbers. Where are yours??

Not angry. Just disgusted that we, the taxpayers, shell out big-time dollars for these people and this is what we get in return? Crude and rude humour posted on the county funded website for the world to see? We are supposed to be paying professionals. Keep the crude and rude humor behind closed doors. Is that asking too much?? Do we have to give you a 4%@45 for you to knock off the embarrassing public display of juvenile slapstick comedy??? Why would you defend such behavior??? Home teamer???

      • hankster says:

oco, you also have pathological envy syndrome. What? You couldn’t get on with a stable well paying government job and now you’re taking it out on those who choose public service as a career. I’ve listened to you ilk for many years and we just tune you out. You’re irrelevant. For 25 years I was paid much less than I could have made in the private sector. I worked my butt off for the taxpayers, and paid a lot of taxes myself since I didn’t have all the writeoffs that a businessman would have. I didn’t get bonuses or paid trips to Cancun like a lot of my friends from college got in their business jobs. I put up with jokes about “good enough for government work” when I knew damn well that none of them could do my job as well as I did. The public got their money’s worth in my case and in the case of 99% of my co-workers. In the end I got the pension I worked for all those years and now jerks like you who lost in the stock market are po’d at the fact I was smart enough to work for a CalPERS pension all those years. Well you can go take a long flying leap off a very steep and high cliff for all I care. I’ve got my constitutionally protected pension and I earned every single penny of it. I’ve also got pride in the work I did as well as the knowledge that I helped many, many people. What do you have except jealousy, hatred and envy? Ditto to the dweebs of the watchmutt.

  • macdoodle says:

    kinda funny- but not professional
    removed. done.
IS ANOTHER BORING PIC OF A BOSS BACK UP?

OR COULD THERE BE MORE TASTEFUL BUT STILL DRAWN PICS USED FOR THE DEPARTMENTS?

maybe there could be a contest at the county area schools for the pictures!

  • B.N. Coy says:

Guess what…everyone of those cartoons was drawn by none other than Lt. Bill Hunt.

    Ironic isn’t

He is the cartoonist and hutchens the cartoon. Neither one should be Sheriff

  • B.N. Coy says:

Tony to verify just look at the artist signature, usually near the lower right of the drawing.

  • JOHNNY VEGASS says:

Wow no sense of humor out there. Too bad the cartoons were removed.

  • HeartyAdvocate says:

Probably harmless fun but perhaps not ok for a public agency. I guarantee you that whoever put the cartoon up on the web will not be held accounatble much less fired. Remember that thin…blue (in this care green) line…….

  • thirtyplus says:

I notice that Saavedra re-wrote/edited the article since he was called out on his juvenile, insulting, and unprofessional physical description of Captain Trujillo.

  • thirtyplus says:

Wow! This one REALLY got under OCO’s skin; eh? Borderline foaming at the mouth.

BTW, the OC Retirement System is NOT a part of CALPERS. As such, your reference to the troubles CALPERS is having are irrelevant.

What’s irrelevant? (paraphrasing Chico Marx) A big grey animal with a big trunk and big floppy ears!

  • Rick says:

It’s not the end of the world but it is in very poor taste to put cartoons of a vulture on an official homicide website, or to put cartoons of a flasher on an official sex crimes website which are accessible to the public and especially to the vicitms. You have to have an IQ below 50 or absolutely no sensitivity to people’s feelings to not get that. Some things you just immediately realize from a gut feeling are wrong. Those were wrong. Perhaps OC Watchdog could find more meaningful targets, that is true. But at the same time what is scary is certain LE’s immediate defense of anything they do, even when it is obviously in poor taste. Can you not accept valid criticism? Is any critique of something you do an immediate attack on your whole system? Aren’t you human and don’t you occasionaly F up? And by the way, do you joke about child molestation with your children? This is in the same vein, it’s the same concept Tony is trying to explain. You can joke about child molestation with your fellow officers and no one else around, in fact you have to to survive being exposed to it constantly, but you don’t make jokes about it with the public. I don’t see how anyone could not grasp that idea? Tony is actually helping OCSD by pointing out a serious PR mistake they are making. Then again if OCSD insists upon looking like fools, then they should have it, and enjoy the rewards.

    • interesting1 says:

      Rick,

The Sheriff Department can take criticism however, Tony is constantly trying to pick on the Sheriff Department. Instead of focusing on the whole agency, perhaps he should focus on the one person who drew them which is Bill Hunt. The don’t joke about child molestation with their children, but remember too that a child would probably not be visiting this website on those pages. I am a survivor of rape and I don’t take offense to the cartoons. OCSD is a great agency, they took those cartoons down but honestly they are not that big of a deal, however I respect your opinion.

OCR, you need a life, Hate to tell you this but departments and divison have logos all across the U.S. Can’t tell you how nay homicde divisions have logos like that… Must be a slow news day for you.. Get a dam life, get a real job. I thik it’s funny the only time the public says thank you to a cop or a firefighter or a EMT when when somethinh happens such as 9/11 or a wildfire, yet when you call 9-1-1 we are there, going in harms way, finding the person who did the crime, providing CPR on your love one, protecting your house from the wild fire. yet the public con’t to talk trash. Remebr that next time you call 9-1-1 and need help. Is it ok that units if the U.S. Military have logo’s likes that? dont hear you talking about that……. GET A LIFE OCR !!!
