No, it's part of a plot by big government to extract even more money from the hapless taxpayer.

Two years ago, with the stroke of a pen, dog-license license fees nearly doubled. In cities in other states, fees are a third of what they are in Orange County, and a dog license is only required if you take your dog out in public, i.e., for a walk.

The ultimate solution is to refuse to have any part of this scam and not license your pet. Bring on the "late fees." Don't pay them, either.

Let's say people stopped behaving like sheep and didn't say, "How high?" when government says, "Jump." A lot would change.

If the opponents claim " it’s a part of an extremist plot to ultimately outlaw dogs as pets" than why do the proponents spend hours, weeks, months and tons of their own money to save dogs and cats and find them good homes?

This is so stupid. People are not going to want to register their animals because of potential laws like this.....then where will the money come from if not from reg. fees?

"According to opponents, spay-neuter never works to reduce pet overpopulation, and it’s a part of an extremist plot to ultimately outlaw dogs as pets. "..............??????????? LMAO at outlaw dogs as pets.... Ridiculous!

SO, if this "won't work", then we should ban selling dogs in pet stores to delinquents, because THAT is where all the problems start.... There are too many greedy (illegal?) breeders who don't care anything about dogs - just your money.

This is the most ridiculus piece of legislation I have seen in a long time. Is it no wonder California is in such dire straits financially when the legislators have nothing better to do than sit around and dream up more ways to take more money from the taxpayers? Arnold had better veto this bill as soon as it hits his desk. His political future, and the political future of the legislators who voted for this idiotic bill could hang in the balance.
