
The Orange County Employees Association - the county’s largest union - boosted membership and saw income rise over three years, according to tax returns.
Between 2005 and 2007:
Membership has grown from 11,800 to 13,300, and dues have gone from $9.62 biweekly to $10.06 biweekly, said Nick Berardino, the union’s general manager.

The union should lead by example. Where is all this money going? 201K/year?? Help out the layoff victims!
One small detail the Register conveniently forgot (not that I am accusing them of bias, heaven forbid!). There are five Sups versus one OCEA CEO. And, I bet Nick could do a better job of running the County than all five of them put together, so he is quite a bargain.
God forbid the Union have a surplus of money stashed for a rainy day! Maybe if the County had a similar approach instead of remodeling the Sups lobby in a financial crisis they would have money too.
With a blatantly anti-union Board of Sups, the unions need to be prepared for anything. Just look at what’s happening with AOCDS.
OCMA is helping out the layoff victems with much less revenue. Time to step it up OCEA. Put your money where your bullhorn is.
