Art Pedroza has it right. Needs to dig deeper.

a good number of these electeds get between $20K to $40k/year... depends on how many regional boards/commissions they sit on. Usually $100/meeting.

Check out the mayor of Irvine!

Wait a minute, Don't they travel to Japan and other sister cities who pays for that? What about council aids how much that does that cost the tax payers. Do they get full benefits? Take Galloway the same person Ms Gin is Galloways council assistance and also works for her at her business,

You have identified only the first layer of the onion. Dig deeper and you will find questionable practices in their unilateral authority to grant benefits and pay increases to themselves as well as lucrative "consulting" arrangements with other public agencies in the county solely based on their elected positions and political influence. Imagine how much bigger these issues become when you move up to regional, state, and national levels.

Santa Ana City Council Members also get a $600 monthly car allowance. Our Mayor, Miguel Pulido, also gets to use a hybrid car for free, which is provided to him by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (he sits on their board). And he STILL gets a car allowance from the City of Santa Ana.

It should also be noted that many of our Council Members make a lot of money serving on various commissions and boards. Every time they sit on a city commission they are paid. And some of these boards pay hundreds of dollars per month, such as the O.C. Sanitation District's Board.

So no, our Council Members are not poorly paid.

Why a car allowance? Is this taxable as regular income? If not, they should receive this as salary. Anaheim counselors don't have to worry as they are really employed by developers.
