Dig deeper and you will find questionable practices in their unilateral authority to grant benefits and pay increases to themselves as well as lucrative "consulting" arrangements with other public agencies in the county solely based on their elected positions and political influence. Our Mayor, Miguel Pulido, also gets to use a hybrid car for free, which is provided to him by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (he sits on their board). And he STILL gets a car allowance from the City of Santa Ana. It should also be noted that many of our Council Members make a lot of money serving on various commissions and boards. Every time they sit on a city commission they are paid. And some of these boards pay hundreds of dollars per month, such as the O.C. Sanitation District's Board.
