Vote! Should people be fired for lying on resume?

August 14th, 2008, 3:40 pm · 3 Comments · posted by Teri Sforza, Register staff writer

Employees of the County of Orange won’t necessarily lose their jobs if they’ve fudged resumes, lied about their educations, or ommitted crimes like DUIs.

Should termination be automatic if an employee lies to get the job?

I seriously doubt anyone really tells the truth on a resume. A case could be made to fire anyone if this was strictly enforced.

only in government would this stuff be tolerated… if they found out in private industry you didn’t obtain the degree you said you did, you’d be fired on the spot. of course if they don’t ask you about being arrested i.e. DUI they can’t really complain that you didn’t reveal it. but almost all employers do.

    OK, fired or demoted…
