Leisure World lawyers to Supreme Court: Help?

We are not a “common interest development,” they say. Not a homeowners association. And the justices at the Fourth District Court of Appeal who said otherwise were wrong!

Lawyers for the Golden Rain Foundation - which runs the community stuff at Seal Beach Leisure World  - have filed a “Petition for Review” with the state Supreme Court, asking it to clear up the “confusion” created when the appeals court said that Leisure World is subject to the laws that govern homeowners associations - even though it was formed decades before those laws were written.

Being a homeowners association would, among other things, require it to produce all sorts of financial (and other) records for its residents. It had resisted that for years (thus, the lawsuits).

The Court of Appeal failed to recognize and address many legal issues, the petition says. Unless the Supreme Court weighs in, “the confusion caused by the appellate court’s failure to recognize and address these issues will fray the social fabric that Leisure World and its residents have enjoyed for 45 years.”

A bit of hyperbole, perhaps? All these folks wanted was a copy of the budget.

i worked for golden rain foundation as a mechanic in laguna woods what an upside down organization! professional community management rakes in the dollars and hires nothing but illegals to work for grf and pockets the difference! look how pcm serves the grf residents!

Please publish this more broadly. I believe PCM are the slickest scam artists I’ve ever seen or heard of. They have helped themselves to millions of our money. Boards have not controlled them. There’s no checks and balances.

They handle all our money and spend it as they will. Our maintenance service has been gradually declining while our assessments increase at an alarming rate. The employee, PCM, has become boss, dictator, and chief thief.

There’s a division called Security. What a laugh! Security people, PCM employees, are not allowed to provide proper security to residents. In cases of emergency we have to dial 911 and forget our security people.

PCM provides their employees with all kinds of perks, like monthly DSL service for free to employees, but comes out of our pockets.

Everyday is a new revelation. There is so much corruption coming out of PCM, we definitely have to get rid of them. There’s no possibily of their changing their ways.

Authorities keep turning a blind eye to our plight even though we’ve been crying out to them for a long time.

But God is still on the throne. Something drastic is going to happen one of these days. That corruption cannot continue.

    Sounds like another R.I.C.O. situation!
Good luck w/ the US Supreme Court though
It would be awesome if they decided to finally hear such a case.
    but, don’t hold your breath!

I doubt it that the State Supreme Court would be of any help

Teri, what either of the previous poster’s fail to understand is that PCM has nothing to do with Leisure World, Seal Beach. Leisure World, unlike Laguna Woods Village, is self managed by the residents. You should know this and delete posts (or at least add a comment) when people make false or misleading statements.
